Tracking:
|
This sport is fun and relaxing. It's a great way to
pass a weekend.
I started Bobby"O off with games&ldots;he
loves to play and he is quick to learn the objectives. All the games
were geared around finding an article, discrimination of articles or
following his nose. When it came time to track we started off with
short tracks of 25ft in a straight line slowly working up to longer
tracks with turns. |

while training. |
I have never used food to train, but then again I
never had too, it came naturally for
him and because we had built a foundation by playing games, he
understands the task. I have found some helpful information on the American
Rottwieler Club's web site.
Dog
Wise also sells books and DVD's on the subject.
CARTING:
|
|
Carting is a dog sport where patience and a solid
foundation are most important.
Start off slow&ldots;.don't push them before their
ready. I have found the shafts on the cart to be my
biggest obstacle. I went too far and found myself back to
conditioning them with pool noodles, till they can except the feel
and restriction of the cart shafts. |
Above is Bobby
O (baby steps with pulling split logs)...I
think he's making fun of the exercise&ldots;
|
Once we are all ready to go, I plan on
participating in local parades and demonstrations, as well as bottle
drives for fund raisers and community clean up days.
The Cart was purchased from Dog
Works out of the USA.
The harnesses were custom made by Kristi Fraser of Akaimi
Rottweilers. These harnesses fit like a glove and are
quality made. See her site
for info. |
